NCC Raises Concern Over Cross-Dressing Trends Among Male Influencers in Ghana
The National Commission on Culture (NCC) is worried about the growing trend of male content creators in Ghana wearing clothes usually meant for women. According to the NCC, this goes against the country’s cultural and moral values.
Their concern grew after an event at the Ridge Condos All Black Party in Kumasi, where several male influencers were seen wearing women’s clothing and accessories in public.
Dr. Richardson Commey Fio, the Deputy Executive Director of the NCC, called this trend in Kumasi “disturbing” and “unacceptable,” especially because Kumasi is known for its strong cultural traditions. He explained that cross-dressing is not accepted in Ghanaian culture and warned people not to use modernization or globalization as excuses for actions that harm the community’s values.
Dr. Fio said it is disappointing to see behaviors that disrespect Ghana’s rich culture, especially in a city like Kumasi, where culture is highly respected. He added that some people are trying to damage the country’s culture for their own benefit by using false ideas about globalization and modernism. He urged Ghanaians to stick to their cultural values and not support behaviors that weaken them.
