An Accra High Court has ordered Ghanaian musician Michael Owusu Addo, nicknamed Sarkodie, to testify against Kantanka Automobile and one Jude Osei in a lawsuit involving Kantanka Automobile.
The rapper had information of a deal involving Kantanka Automobile and the complainant Jude Osei, according to the writ.
Sarkodie has been summoned to court on July 14.
A lawsuit has been filed against Kantanka Automobile and Kwadwo Safo Jnr. for a failed social media promise made with the account kantanka daily.
Plaintiff Jude Osei claimed in a writ issued on May 14, 2019, that he received a message from Kantaka Automobile to publish an image of a Kantaka Automobile automobile on Twitter, and that if he managed to acquire 30,000 retweets, he would be awarded with a Kantanka Mensa car.
Jude Osei was able to reach 30,000 retweets after almost a year. He then sent a message to Kantanka asking for his prize, but around the same time, Kantanka Automobile released a disclaimer stating that any tweet providing Kantanka Mensa in exchange for 30,000 retweets should be considered a scam.
Jude Osei, who was enraged by the company’s silence and failure to release a disclaimer for nearly a year, finally did so after a year of waiting.
Kwadwo Kantanka Jnr., who has the same Twitter handle as Kantanka daily, also retweeted the tweet.
He also claims that the corporation should not have delayed over a year to provide a disclaimer, even if the account was fraudulen
They are however demanding: A declaration that at all material times the Defendants caused, allowed and or permitted me @kantanka daily Twitter account to carry itself as an agent of the 1st Defendant, damages for breach of contract and a declaration that @kantanka_daily entered into a valid contract with the Plaintiff to the knowledge of the Defendants among others.
