Even Bawumia can’t win Tamale Central by-election for you- Fiifi Kwetey to NPP

Joseph DumolgaSeptember 2, 2025

The General Secretary of the ruling party National Democratic Congress (NDC) Fiifi Fiavi Kwetey has dared the opposition New Patriotic Party ahead of the Tamale Central by-election later this year to allow Dr Mahamudu Bawumia contest.

The NPP has already excused themselves from contesting the by-election after the MP Honorable Murtala Muhammed died in the ghastly helicopter crash in July 2025 that claimed his life and 7 others.

The party in the region opened nomination and have subsequently cleared 13 people who want to replace the late Minister.

Fiifi Kwetey believes that the NPP was never going to win the Tamale Central seat, a reason they don’t want to contest and even if they allow former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia,  he will still not win the seat.

He was speaking at Akwatia where there is another by-election on-going.
