Former Member of Parliament for the Kade , Ofosu Asamoah is revealing that vehicles insurance policies does not cover commercial bus conductors or “trotro mates” and unauthorized passengers in any work related accidents.
The former Member of Parliament also added that there is no insurance coverage for passengers who are not fee paying. These are the pe
ople most often relatives of car owners or drivers.
Speaking on the Big Issue Citifm, Ofosu Asamoah related this to Dr. Samuel Sarpong who lost his life with 7 others in the horrible helicopter crash on August 6th, 2025.
He believes all those on board the helicopter were government officials and military personnel but the late Samuel Sarpong was not on board as a government official so it will be difficult for insurance to cover him.
“When a commercial bus crashes, non-paying or unauthorized passengers are not covered by insurance.” be said.
He urged the government to set up a fund that will help the family of the late NDC Vice Chairman.
