According to Ghanaian rapper Kwesi Arthur, even if the music industry is a “wonderful business,” it is full with egotistical individuals who pose as friends but are really adversaries.

This was mentioned by the BET-recognized performer during an episode of Metro TV’s Entertainment Review in Accra.

Considering that the regional music scene is “a good industry,” he warned that “there’s just a lot of vultures in there. There’s a lot of faking. People will snake [bite] you [unawares] the least chance they get.”

“Even people you trust,” he stressed. “You have to be very vigilant and be sure to have genuine people who want your good working with you.”

Bad contracts was another thing the ‘Toxic’ hitmaker highlighted.

“You signing bad deals, horrible deals [with] people you think are really for you but they are only in it for themselves,” He signaled while wearing a white shirt with holes. “There is a lot of that [in the industry].”

The host Dessy Fayden questioned, if he had ever been a victim of such a deal in his career, “Oh yeah,” he answered with a hint of hesitation in his voice.

“But we’re in a better place now,” he was quick to add.

Kwesi Arthur tweeted on August 2, 2022, that he was engaged in a dispute with the record label Ground Up Chale. It is the rap group he first gained notoriety with, which also included Kofi Mole and Quamina MP.

“@GroundUpChale, answer my calls, bro. Lol [Laugh out loud],” he said.

“I want all my [things] back, my guy,” he said in another tweet after indicating his calls had still not been answered.

Kwesi emphasized the following in yet another tweet: “If I keep quiet so many artistes in the position I was will be taken advantage of.”

“I’m done cooling down,” he added in the deleted Twitter thread.

Kwesi Arthur, also known as Emmanuel Kwesi Danso Arthur Junior, found his writing and rapping abilities around 2010. He decided to consider it carefully. Stars like Sarkodie, Eminem, Kanye West, and Drake served as inspiration for him.

The 27-year-debut old’s single, “Grind Day,” was released in April 2017.

Son of Jacob, his debut album, was released in April 2022. The 15-track project ranked third among albums played in Ghana in 2022 on Boomplay, the largest audio streaming service in Africa.
