When you broke, a harmless “good morning “ can sound like a tease” Sarkodie Opinion On The E-Levy

Ghana rapper Sarkodie has added his voice to the controversial E-Levy brouhaha that’s currently ongoing in Ghana.

The Electronic Transaction Levy (also known as the E-levy) is a tax that is levied on transactions that take place on electronic or digital platforms.

Ken Ofori-Atta announced on November 17, 2021 that the Ghanaian government had chosen to tax all electronic transactions in the informal sector in order to expand the tax base.

He stated this in the budget statement and economic policy for 2022, which was read before Ghana’s parliament.

[5] The E-levy rate is 1.75 percent, which the government has decided to apply to all transactions. According to Ken Ofori-Atta, it has the potential to raise $1.15 billion, broadening the tax base.

A Twitter user by name Tsaatse Buretey asked the rapper what he thinks about the e-levy, “@sarkodie Please i want to know what you think about the E-Levy, you have been quiet on it your paddies are speaking their minds ooo”

Sarkodie replied “I pay a lot of taxes outside and I don’t complain because I’m using avenues they made available to make 💰( it’s only right ) it’s not same here and that’s why we complain not because the “E Levy” is bad . When you broke, a harmless “good morning “ can sound like a tease”
