Ghana Basic Schools Resume On Tuesday
Basic school children across the country will go back to school next Tuesday to start the 2024/2025 school year.
This is the first time since COVID-19 that students are officially starting the school year in September, like before.
In 2021 and 2022, schools used a different schedule, with the school year starting in January and ending in December. But in 2023, the Ghana Education Service (GES) began returning to the old calendar, starting the school year in October.
Now, the GES has fully returned to the pre-COVID calendar for basic schools after finishing the 2022 school year.
According to the 2024/2025 academic calendar, KG, primary, and junior high school students will spend 15 weeks in the first term, starting on September 10, 2024, and ending on December 18, 2024, with vacation beginning on December 19.
The second term will begin on January 7, 2025, and end on April 16, 2025, with students going on vacation the next day, April 17, after another 15 weeks of school.
The third term will start on May 6, 2025, and end on July 24, 2025, making a total of 12 weeks in the third term. This will conclude the school year.
