    He said he was very shocked and didn’t even have the right words to say how he felt. Sarkodie wrote:

    Only if I had the words to express how I’ve been feeling since early this morning but I don’t … we will all go back to the maker one day but sometimes it’s hard to even entertain the thought when it involves people close to your heart RIP DL !!! Thanks for all you’ve done for us … The legacy lives on condolences to the family I pray for strength.”

    Widely considered Ghana’s greatest musician of all time, Daddy Lumba leaves behind a legacy that spans more than four decades. With 34 albums under his belt and countless hits, he shaped the sound of modern Ghanaian highlife, blending tradition with innovation in a way few artists

    Born on 29th September 1964, Daddy Lumba burst onto the music scene in the late 1980s with his signature style—a mix of soulful melodies, highlife rhythms, and heartfelt lyrics. He captured the emotions of Ghanaians with songs about love, heartbreak, faith, and resilience.

    From early classics like Yereye Aka Akwantuo Mu to timeless anthems such as Aben Wo Ha and Theresa, his voice became the soundtrack of many lives across generations. His bold lyrics, charismatic persona, and unmatched consistency earned him admiration and sometimes controversy, but never irrelevance.

    In 2024, Daddy Lumba received the Grand Medal, one of Ghana’s highest national honors, in recognition of his extraordinary contributions to the arts and culture. The award cemented his place not only in Ghana’s musical history but also in its national consciousness.

    Earlier this year, his timeless love song “Mpempem Do Me” was featured on the official playlist of King Charles III, a rare international nod that showcased the global reach of Lumba’s music.

    Born Terrence Nii Okan Mensah Adjetey, the iconic musician lost his life in a car accident on the Legon-Okpoglo road in 2003 after performing at the Akwafo Hall Week celebration.

    Bonchaka, who earned the title of 2001 Hiplife Champion, was just 21 years old at the time of his passing and was celebrated for his dynamic stage presence and hit songs like “Ghana Ladies (Gbeebi Akle),” “African Tsoo,” “Zoozey,” and “Puulele.”

    In a heartfelt Facebook tribute, his former manager and close companion, Reagan Mends, now a journalist at Citi FM/Channel One TV, expressed disbelief at the passage of time and committed to preserving Bonchaka’s legacy.
